Application for Appointment to Boards & Committees 2016/18 Term

The City of Sarnia recognizes the depth, knowledge, capabilities and enthusiasm of our community members.  The City has established boards and committees to advise staff and council and to help us in delivering projects that serve the community.  Some boards and committees are also required to carry out statutory responsibilities.

The City of Sarnia recognizes volunteers as an essential resource for the current and future development of our community.  Our volunteer opportunities range from a one-time only to a weekly commitment on a year-round basis, and everything in between.

Sarnia City Council will appoint citizens to the following Boards and Committees at their December 12th, 2016 meeting.  All appointments are for a 2 year term.


Arena Advisory Committee

Meets once a month (more often upon need), on Mondays at 5:00 PM at City Hall

Bi-National Public Advisory Council (BPAC)

Meets at the Call of the Chair as required

Bluewater Trails Committee

Meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at City Hall

Court of Revision Under the Drainage Act

Meets on an as needed basis at City Hall.

Fence Viewers

Lambton County Historical Society

Meets monthly, with the exception of July, August and December in different location throughout the County.

Lambton Farm Safety Association

Meets usually on Monday from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Agricultural Office in Petrolia, with a total of 6 to 8 meetings per year at the call of the Chair.

Planning Advisory Committee

The role of the Planning Advisory Committee is to advise Staff and Council on community and land use planning matters.   The Committee will meet monthly over the next two-year term.

Poultry and Livestock Valuator

The Valuator performs duties as required when livestock or poultry is killed or injured in the municipality.

Sarnia Heritage Committee

Meets the first Thursday of each month at 3:30 PM at City Hall.

Sarnia Accessibility & Advisory Committee (SAAC)

Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at City Hall.

Sarnia Transit Advisory Committee

Meets the 2nd Tuesday of every other month beginning in January from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at City Hall.

Sarnia Police Services Board     

Meets the 4th Thursday of each month, except July, August and December where they at the Call of the Chair. All Open Meetings start at 9:30 AM and may have a Closed Meeting prior to the Open Meeting.
