Bright's Grove Shoreline Failure

By City Staff

A portion of seawall has collapsed along the shore of Lake Huron near the walking trail between Kenwick Street and Helen Street in Bright’s Grove. The failure in the wall has led to severe erosion and bank instability.

The collapsed seawall is approximately 150 metres east of Kenwick Street, which is near Bright’s Grove Public School and Wildwood Park. City of Sarnia staff have been in contact with Bright’s Grove Public School staff who have communicated the danger to students.

The public is cautioned that the area could become increasingly dangerous and unstable in the event of strong wind and wave action.

The public is advised to avoid the area and to discuss the serious dangers associated with this collapse with their children and/or families.

The affected area has been barricaded and danger signs have been posted. The City will proceed with emergency repairs to patch the hole and stabilize the bank as soon as possible.
