Though a new Charge n’ Go initiative, local businesses are invited to apply for a grant to install a charge station at their location, to provide free power for mobility devices.

In 2016, the City of Sarnia partnered with the County of Lambton to introduce charging stations for mobility devices at 13 public buildings and spaces across Sarnia including parks, libraries, City Hall, Lambton Shared Services and Lambton Public Health. The City is now expanding this initiative to include businesses by introducing the Charge n’ Go initiative.

Charge stations allow the public to charge their mobility devices, such as electric wheel chairs and mobility scooters, at no cost, in a worry free environment.

The Charge n’ Go initiative is a grant of up to $500 to install charging stations in businesses, and a starter kit that includes a sign and information on where to install the charging station.

By adding charging stations, businesses can:

  • Open their doors to more people
  • Have a reputation of being socially responsible business
  • Market the business in a unique way
  • Be part of an inclusive movement in the City of Sarnia
  • Take advantages of further marketing opportunities

The cost to businesses is 17 to 25 cents per charge.

To apply for the grant, businesses can visit www.sarnia.ca and complete the online application or can contact the Accessibility Coordinator at 519-332-0330 ext. 3307 or at access@sarnia.ca
