Mallroad Library To Be Reopened

Wyoming, ON - Lambton County Library's Mallroad branch will reopen and resume all of its programming and services to the public on Thursday, August 17, at 9:30 a.m.

The library unexpectedly closed Tuesday, August 15 after a vehicle collided into the front of the facility causing moderate damage to the building.  A temporary wall was constructed in an effort to allow the building to re-open as soon as possible.   Full repairs to the facility will be scheduled and completed at a later date.

The library's hours of opening are Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.   The facility is closed on Sundays during holiday weekends.

Sarnia Library Reopening Monday, August 21

Sarnia, ON – Lambton County Library's Sarnia branch will reopen to the public on Monday, August 21, 2017, after being closed for five weeks following a minor fire at the facility.  The Bookmobile services and Makerspace programs and workshops will also resume; however, the Library Theatre will remain closed as remediation work continues.

Since the fire, the City of Sarnia as building owner and the County of Lambton as service provider, have worked together in an attempt to re-open the library as soon as possible.  Contractors have been working on repairs or replacements to mechanical systems and electrical systems, along with completing smoke remediation work.

No additional fines will accrue during the Sarnia Library closure for materials previously checked out of that facility and which were due for return.

Sarnia Library's hours of opening are Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  

The Bookmobile stops and times are as follows:

  • Tuesday - 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Trillium Park (Marquis Apartments);  2:00 - 4:30 p.m. at Pathways Health Centre for Children (1240 Murphy Road)
  • Wednesday - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Willdowdale Crescent (at Exmouth St.); 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at Retlaw Park (McKay Ave. and McCaw St.)
  • Thursday - 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. at Kathleen Ave. (at Walnut Ave.)
  • Friday -10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Canatara Park (Sandy Lane); 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. Oak Acres Plaza Area (St. Bartholomew's Church)

Programs will be resuming mid-week at the library including:

  • Tabletop Games Night (All Ages) Drop-in - 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. 
  • Adult Mystery Book Club (Adult) Drop-in - 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 28
  • Electric Library - Device Assistance (Adult) Drop-in - 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26. Bring your device and log-in information.

Please note Create a Macramé Plant Hanger (August 22) and Movies in the Sarnia Library Theatre (August 26 and 28) have been cancelled.
