Centennial Park - Boat Ramp Construction

By City Staff

Construction of a new Sarnia boat launch is underway. The new boat launch will be constructed at the Sarnia Bay Marina, to the east of the existing Marina building.

Relocation of the boat launch is required because the existing launch parking lot is the most ideal location to construct a berm to store impacted material. Relocation will also consolidate boating activities, create “green” space on the waterfront property, and avoid extensive costs associated with dredging to maintain the existing boat launch.

The new boat launch will feature 4 boat ramps, the same number of boat ramps as the previous launch. Parking lot capacity of the new boat launch will be equal to or greater than the existing launch parking.

The existing boat launch will remain in use until the new one is complete. Construction is expected to be complete this fall; the City will issue a media release when the new boat launch is open for public use.
