Canada’s Health Care System

All Canadian residents are covered for major medical and hospital costs by provincial health insurance programs. The system covers most medical treatment costs, except for dental care and prescription drugs. Funding is through personal income tax revenues and employers' payroll taxes, with doctors and hospitals being reimbursed directly by provincial governments according to a negotiated schedule of fees.
