Director's Message

The Parks and Recreation Department is.....

  • Special Events
  • Walks along the waterfront
  • Splashing in the splashpad at the Cox Youth Centre
  • Listening to music at the Dow People Place Entertainment Centre
  • Playing hockey or figure skating in the arenas
  • A Department that serves the community and all it's residents.

The Parks and Recreation Department is all that and a whole lot more. Check out our webpages and discover each of the many areas of the Department. Whether its the Strangway Community Centre where adults participate in educational, recreational, social or volunteer activities or assisting a person with a disability, or to be more engaged in the community. If you wish more information on these opportunities, please call 519-332-0330  or TTY 519-332-2664.

The Emergency Management Section has developed an effective Peace Time Emergency Plan and our association with theChemical Valley Emergency Measures Organization (CVECO) and Community Awareness/Emergency Response (CAER) group provides networked layers of response and assistance in the event of any type of emergency.

The detailed information on our Department is far too extensive to attempt to summarize on this introduction page.Browse through the various sections of Parks and Recreation to obtain more detailed information. Be sure to visit our site on a regular basis to preview up-coming special events and programs.

Visit our site now and in the future to check out added features. If you have any suggestions for additional topics, please contact:Ian Smith, Director of Parks and Recreation
We are continually trying to fulfill our motto of "People Serving People"
