ANIMALS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY

Under normal circumstances, the Animal Control Officer will not remove dead animals from private property. However, if the property owner has no way of disposing the animal, if the owner "bags" and places the dead animal by the sidewalk, the Officer will remove the carcass.


CROWS /MOSQUITOS/ WEST NILE VIRUS

Information about the West Nile Virus, its impact and recommended action is available from the County of Lambton Community Health Services Department.


DEAD ANIMALS

Dead animals found on public property will be transported to the Humane Society for disposal.


PIGEONS

The animal control by-law as it pertains to keeping of pigeons states that 25 pair may be kept and that pigeons may be released once daily for exercise under the supervision of the owner, or other knowledgable person on his behalf, provided that not more than a total of 30 pigeons be at large at any one time.


RESTRICTED ANIMALS

The keeping of certain animals is prohibited or restricted within the City of Sarnia. Please refer to the appropriate sections of the Animal Control By-Law and a complete list of restricted animals.


WILDLIFE

The Ministry of Natural Resources is responsible for wild animals which threatens public safety or is in the living quarters of a citizen’s home.  Please contact the Chatham office at 1-519-354-7340.
